  • Look forward to next steps.
  • Commiserate and commit to solidarity
  • Become truly Welcoming Congregations
  • Transform Hearts (with our fall online/hybrid curriculum)
  • Shape communities where everyone holds a real sense of belonging
  • REGISTER by June 12th to participate.
  • For security purposes, this registration form requires individual administrative approval after listing your full name, address, and congregational affiliation. We will not share that information. Please email Karen at kwmuusja@gmail.com with any difficulties. We will do our best to resolve any problems, while prioritizing physical, digital, and emotional safety of all participants.

Learnings: "I've heard "Queer" used as an insult...
Why do some folks embrace that word as positive & affirming?"

Yes, and yes; people get to choose what words/terms they use themselves, and here are some learnings about how language has changed. What can you learn before June 13th to become as welcoming as possible to our esteemed guests, and to friends and neighbors in UU congregations and communities?

Here is a short history of the word "Queer" and here are nine different perspectives about what "Queer" means (both from "Them"). The GLAAD-advised NPR guide is a beginning glossary on gender and sexuality.

Check out this great new resource from UUA/Side With Love for helping UU's thwart anti-transgender bills and attacks: https://bit.ly/3nsh2va  And join us in the fall (online) for the Transforming Hearts curriculum by UU leaders Mykal Slack and Alex Kapitan (see video) to gain a deeper awareness.  And Laverne Cox's award-winning 45-minute documentary, "The T Word," introduces youth who speak for themselves about transgender identities.

TIME FOR PRIDE!

What does your congregation need to be fab-UU-lous?!?!
Here's the link to MUUSJA's Pride resources & requests!

In a year when far-right bigotry towards LGBTQ+ people and families is surging, we will come together with pride, solidarity, and Love, at Pride fests across the region. Please check with your congregational organizers or contact us at MUUSJA to help take a shift at one or more festivals, sharing resources and information about UU Welcoming Congregations. And if you need more *stuff* or help with organizing, let us know, using the MUUSJA Pride 2023 Resources form (click button).
