Last time we continued our talk about Stop Line 3 efforts, and Kathy shared about her 8th Principle curriculum’s successful launch. We began chatting about how to make this work sustainable, and will continue that conversation this Thursday.

Come ready to talk about:

• How do we keep this work sustainable and draw people into RJ work? (Parallels with why people join church: because of big event/crisis or for their children)
• What racial justice work is going on in your community? How can this group support or get involved?
• The next meeting is scheduled for Thanksgiving; would you prefer to skip or reschedule?

Finally, my time with MUUSJA comes to a close at the end of October. I have shared before that I started seminary this Fall–it is so wonderful and life giving, but also so incredibly busy. After this Thursday, I am handing over facilitation responsibilities to Karen Wills. Where you all go from there is up to you! I know it will be wonderful.

BACKGROUND: The Racial Justice Convening Circle is a monthly gathering of UU's and friends mainly from Minnesota, North and South Dakota, concerned with racial justice in our states, will continue the reflection, connection, and action begun during the MUUSJA Racial Justice Convening in February 2021. Specific topics, invited guests, and frequency of meetings will be determined by the group, facilitated and supported by MUUSJA Organizer Nico Van Ostrand, nico.vanostrand@gmail.com .

Partnerships: MUUSJA is connected and in solidarity with UU organizers from Side With Love, Allies for Racial Equity, DRUUMM, BLUU, with interfaith organizers from ISAIAH and Minnesota Multi-Faith Network, and with community organizations such as SURJ-MN, TRUE Tuesdays, Black Visions, and Voices for Racial Justice.
